COMMUNITY OUTREACH

From its beginnings, STAR has been active in the community. In addition to our regular therapy visits, we have participated in Pet Fest for over fifteen years, giving Canine Good Citizen tests and offering information about therapy work; more recently, we have added Bark in the Park with the same activities.
We interact with local shelters, for example by donating the proceeds of our CGC tests or by holding events on their premises by request.
We provide stress relief during exams for The Citadel, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, and the Charleston School of Law.
In addition, we hold reading-to-dogs events regularly in local libraries and schools.
